The football team returned to a winning record with a win over Vincennes on September 1.  The victory came on top of the tremendous play by Junior DeAirious Smith (Dee).  According to the KHSAA, Dee ran for 122 yards and scored three touchdowns on seven receptions.  Currently, he is leading Division 2A in receptions.  Junior Drew Long’s five sacks also leads the Division.  They both helped the Eagles win a close one.  The final score was 43-48. Ben Philpot, a junior and a tennis/ golf player who attended the game said, “The guys really came out strong in the first half and made some great plays. It got a little too close for comfort in the second half, but I knew they could pull it out in the end.”  Despite the close score, Dee remains positive about the game.“Well, work hard, then play hard, then good things will happen.” In response to winning the Herald Leader poll for Player of the Week, he says, “Man, it feels great to be the first Player of the Week. I’m trying to be great and do great things.”

The team plays its inner-City rival Catholic next.  Fans will be looking forward to watching the players in the “biggest game of their lives.”
