Government Shutdown Avoided

On September 30, both the House and the Senate approved a short-term funding bill. This bill will not raise the debt ceiling, but it will allow the government to avoid a shutdown for now. The approval came shortly before the budget was set to run out. This will not fix the problem; however, the United States government is still on the verge of financial meltdown. The Democratic party wishes to raise the debt limit and the GOP has said that they will not approve a bill to raise the debt limit. Many ideas have been thrown around to “fix” the current debt problem. One of these ideas is the one trillion-dollar coin. This coin would allow the government to pay debts and avoid default.
