Swimmers are Ready For Their First Meet, Whenever That May Be

The 2020 Swim Team gathers for prayer before a meet. Many member from this team are returning this year.

Since the swim season is here, members of the team are ready to be in that pool. Luckily for these athletes, most of them got to compete last year, as their season was over before the lockdowns started. Their season actually starts around October in normal years, but because of COVID this year, it has been pushed back. This means that they will have an abbreviated season, as it  ends around February.

Wiles Johnson,11, enjoyed last season so much and is definitely looking forward to this upcoming season. He loves swimming and is an amazing asset to this swim team. Wiles stated ,”I’m looking forward to state and I want to set a new time for freestyle.” Wiles  plans on playing a sport in college but as if right now he does not know what sport or college that may be.

Holden Whipple,12, could not be more thrilled for this season. Since he is a senior he is ready for one last ride on LCA swim team.  “I am looking forward for the extra time in the pool before our championship meets, should allow us to get the upper hand on public schools who aren’t able to practice at this time” Holden wants to swim in college but as of right now, he doesn’t know what that college may be.

Tyler Wertzler ,12, is also excited to finish up his high school career at LCA. Tyler adds,”I am very excited to be in the pool again, and not have our season totally cancelled.” Although Tyler is sad for this being his last year, he is very excited to finish off his high school career.

Unfortunately, the swimmers  do not know when their first meet will be because of COVID. Still, they are in the pool practicing in order to be ready whenever it happens. Each student- athlete is ready and thrilled for their swim meets to begin.
