Chadwick Boseman, the actor who brought the Black Panther to life has passed away.

Chadwick Boseman, the actor who portrayed Black Panther, Jackie Robinson, and many other characters, has passed after a four-year battle with colon cancer. Boseman inspired so many in the black community, especially though his role of the Black Panther, causing inspiration and empowerment to many around the world. Many people are saddened by his death such as student Drew Johnson, 12,  who noted, “Really sad, especially during Jackie Robinson Day. He represented Jackie in an amazing way during the movie 42.” Another senior, Matthew Donnelly, commented about Boseman’s impact off the screen. “ I did not watch any of his movies however, I know the impact he made on the film community and it’s saddening to see people hurting over his passing. Rest in peace Chadwick.”

The actor kept his battle with cancer a secret as best as he could and filmed many movies while enduring chemotherapy and other treatments. This highlights Boseman’s character, because he was willing to do anything to see his fans with a smile on his face through his work. Will Vernon, 12, noted the impact Boseman had on others. “It’s surreal to see him pass so soon, especially with everything already going on, he did so much for the black community.”

Many will miss the presence of Chadwick Boseman on this earth, and many would say this event adds on to the already awful year that is 2020. Rest in peace Chadwick Boseman.
