Home Concerts Help Lift Spirits

Pepsi is just one sponsor bringing together musicians to perform concerts from home during the time of social distancing.

Many people have been affected negatively because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes our favorites musicians and entertainers. All concerts and tours have been cancelled and no one knows for how long.  Musical artists are just as distraught as the rest of America by the current situation. Several are trying to find ways to cheer up their fans. Many artists have gone live on social media and put on “home concerts” for anyone who wants to listen. These concerts have become very popular among fans.

One artist that is put on home concerts is pop singer Miley Cyrus. Her home concerts have been very popular with many fans.  She talks about how all of us are in this together and she’s just trying to spread some light and happiness during these dark days. Kayla Corbin, 10, said “Miley Cyrus isn’t one of my favorite singers but her videos and Livestreams have brought a little happiness to me and my sister.”

Singer songwriter, Chris Martin, lead singer of Coldplay, has also put on home concerts for his beloved fans. He sings all of his most famous songs and he tries to encourage those to social distance and to keep positive. He reminds people to wash their hands and go on walks. He lets everyone know that no one is alone in this, and we are all going through the same thing. Mia Bond, 10, said “Coldplay is one of my favorite artists and to be able to listen to his home concerts is comforting.”

John Legend is another well-known singer who has livestreamed on social media to cheer up his followers. He sang his most famous song All of Me. People sang along at their houses and wished they were able to be at his concert. Shelton Clem, 10, commented “I’ve wanted to see him concert but never got the chance. Now with the pandemic I got to see his home concert.”

In addition to livestreaming, other artists have come together for concerts that have been sponsored and aired on network television. This includes Garth Brooks and Tricia Yearwood, many country artists, and pop musicians are coming together for a concert from home sponsored by Pepsi.  The Grand Ole’ Opry is also broadcasting concerts from its main stage, where artists perform in front of an empty auditorium.  These concerts are a way to lift spirits and help encourage both artists and their fans who are confined to their homes.
