The Eagles football team ended the season with a loss to Somerset in Regionals of the State playoffs. The team finished with a record of 10-2. In coach, Doug Charles’ first year, as the varsity head coach helped to lead the eagles past some of the state’s top talent such as Lexington Catholic and a regular season win against Somerset. The team was led by Dee Smith, 12, who led the state in receiving yards. The only two loses came to teams who went on to win the 2A and 3A State Championship. When asked about the football team, Aaron Abrahamson, 12, said “they are one of the most exciting teams I have ever seen.” One of the most monumental wins this year was a 43-42 victory over Lexington Catholic after the Knights missed a last second field goal. Recalling the game, Andrew Blakeman, 12, said “It was the craziest high school I’ve ever seen.”

LCA had one of the best seasons in history and looks forward to the returning young talent and getting back on the field
