Cameron Smith, 12, and Evan Byers, 12, sign their intention to play baseball at South Alabama and the University of Kentucky respectively.

On Thursday November 14, seven student athletes formalized their decisions to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. Three boys golf, two girls golf, and two baseball players all committed to play Division I for their respected sport. For the boys golf team, Alexander Bassel, 12, committed to Tennessee Tech, Andrew Marrs, 12, to Morehead State, and Jansen Preston, 12, had the opportunity to commit to play golf at his dream school: Vanderbilt. When asked about his decision, Preston said, “It’s been my dream since freshman year to play at Vandy, and it’s such a blessing to be able to live out my dream.” For girls golf, Delia Gibbs, 12, committed to play at Belmont, and Laney Frye, 12, two time Kentucky Miss Golf, is continuing her career at the University of Kentucky. Evan Byers, 12, will be joining Laney at Kentucky except he’ll be playing on the diamond and not on a course. Also for the baseball team, Cameron Smith, 12, committed to playing baseball at South Alabama. Just between two sports, LCA will be represented at 7 different colleges nation wide.
