Boys’ Golf Finishes Third in State

The boys’ golf team advanced to the state competition after winning the both the team and individual Region IX titles. The state tournament was held at Bowling Green Country Club on October 11 and 12. At the end of two days, the team found themselves finishing third in the state behind Trinity and Taylor County. Andrew Marrs, 12, led the team with an overall score of five over par. Jansen Preston, 12, was just behind, finishing at 7 over par.  Alexander Bassel, 12, was the region champion finished at 10 over par. These performances led to a team overall score of 609 strokes, which placed the Eagles third overall, just one shot behind Trinity and three shots behind the state champions Taylor County. Sophomore Elijah Hammond said, “Even though they are disappointed, finishing third in the state is still impressive and something to be proud of.”

After the tournament, Jansen Preston, 12, was named to First Team All State.
