Big Win Over the Briar Jumpers

The football team took down the number one team in 2A State on Friday October 18. The Somerset Briar Jumpers came to Lexington to face the Eagles in a battle for the district. LCA boasts the best quarterback-wide receiver duo in the state, but had an unexpected hero on Friday. Will Vernon, 11, caught three touchdowns to lead the Eagles to their one point victory. On the defensive side, Senior Defensive End Drew Long led the Eagles in sacks and tackles. With two minutes left in the game, the Eagles scored to potentially tie the game, but rather than playing it safe, they went for two. Jayden Barnhardt, 12, pounded it into the end zone to secure the victory.

The student section, dressed in pink for Breast Cancer Awareness month and they were loud. It was an all around great night for Lexington Christian Academy.

This win gives the Eagles home field advantage for the playoffs.
