‘Angry Birds Movie 2’ Brings Beloved Game to Life

When we were growing up, most of us played Angry Birds on our first iPhones, parents’ iPhones and iPads. Hollywood helped this memory come alive when it released the first Angry Birds movie and, once again, with The Angry Birds Movie 2. The movie made its debut on August 13, 2019 and has a running time of one hour and 36 minutes. The animated movie tells the story of how the  pigs on Pig Island and birds on Bird Island come together and end their feud. The film is rated PG, and it is a great movie for those who grew up or are growing up playing the game Angry Birds.

The movie starts out with the usual back and forth exchange of pranks between Pig and Bird island.  Another bird comes into the picture named Zeta. This causes the pigs and birds to unite and stop Zeta from taking over their islands. The usual gang of Red, Chuck, Bomb, Leonard, and Mighty Eagle make an appearance in the movie, along with some new birds, Terence and Stella. Together they make through all the obstacles and difficulties and try to save their islands. Mika Maynard, 10, commented, “This movie does not accurately portray everything, but it has good bops.”

I would recommend this movie for elementary age kids who want a good laugh, or people who enjoy playing the game Angry Birds. It was fun to watch the beloved game come to life and to see what it would be like to live in the game through their point of view. I would give this movie a solid 3 out of 4 stars.
