The opening of Avengers: Endgame was this weekend, and it broke many, many records. One of the first and biggest records that the movie broke was the highest grossing opening weekend, coming in at $1.2 billion and beating its prequel Avengers: Infinity War by almost $600 million. In just one week Endgame is now ranked in the top 10 for highest grossing movies of all time. Before this week, the shortest time it took for a movie to reach one billion dollars was 11 days. Endgame did it in just five days. Right now, the highest grossing movie of all time is Avatar coming in at $2.7 billion.  Some see this amount as out of reach, but I beg to differ. Many people watched the movie during the opening week, one of them being Alec Amburgey, 11. “ I think they did a good job keeping the secrets hidden from spoilers.” Another student that watched the movie was Ricky Thervil, 11, and he said this about the movie, “ I loved it, and it was one my favorite movies I have ever watched. I actually really liked the long length of the movie.”

While most students waited anxiously to watch one of the greatest movies of all time, others barely took notice.  Grace Hager, 11, said “I have never been into Marvel movies, it is not my cup of tea, but I will still watch it anyway.” This just goes to show how big this movie really is. We will keep a very close eye on the revenue of this movie for the coming weeks and possibly even months as it continues to chase down Avatar. Before then, though I would highly encourage everyone and anyone to watch this movie.
