LCA was under lockdown shortly after the start of fifth hour classes on the Thursday April 25. This was the first time that most students can remember being on lockdown when it was not a drill. However, there still appears to be some work to do on procedures. The original announcement came over the phones in teacher’s classrooms, but not all classrooms received the notice, and they did not know that the school was on lockdown. For those who did receive the notice, they were not sure of what to do or how to act. It was clear that there was no threat to students, as the situation was caused by some students leaving the school without signing out, making the school concerned for the students’ safety. Teachers locked the doors as required and some continued teaching, while others had the students sit quietly.  The lockdown was lifted a short while later.
