LCA falls to Lafayette in a blowout as the team could not find its strength. Throughout the game, players struggled with hitting and pitching. Lafayette played an outstanding game as the Generals were hitting the ball and pitched a very well game. Nothing seemed to go the Eagles’ way. In the first couple of innings Lafayette hit very well, scoring around seven runs. LCA had many opportunities to come back and close the gap in the score, but they were unable to do so. They failed to take advantage of opportunities that came their way. Pitcher Elijah Hammond, 9, was not on his game and it ultimately cost LCA the game.

After the game, many people were upset after the disappointing loss. Even though the Eagles were coming off a win against the top ranked team in the state, the loss was still hard to take.  Junior Evan Byers tried to explain what happened in the game.  He said the team played very “selfish and did not take control of their opportunities when they had the chance.”  Cade Gadaulis,9, sister Lauren, 11, went to the game and was not happy with the result. She summed up her feelings about the game,  “the boys were just not on their game today.” Junior Chase Widmer added that this was not the usual performance that you see from this team.

With this loss LCA will move to number 20 in the rankings. Their next game will be against Danville which is a highly anticipated match.
