This past weekend ,the Eagles baseball team played Harrison County, winning 14-3. Jaxson Davis, 10, started, pitching three innings. While he gave up all three of the Thoroughbred’s runs in the first inning, he had two shutout innings before Chance McGaughey, 9, came in and threw three scoreless innings. The Eagles offense was the best all year, putting up 14 runs which resulted in the mercy rule being enforced against Harrison County by the sixth inning. Davis and Drew Long, 11, both went 3 for 4, leading all hitters, with Long also having three RBIs. When I asked Shortstop Matthew Johnson, 12, what he thought of the game, he said,” Definitely our best hitting game all year, and our defense was spot on as well.” Hopefully the Eagles can take that momentum into this week as they play five games in five days. Next game is Tuesday, home, against Lafayette, first pitch at 7:30.
