The Eagles are District Champions after taking down the Dunbar Bulldogs in a exciting match-up. With a very highly anticipated contest, LCA pulled of the 3-peat and what a thrill it was! Until a few years ago, the Eagles had never won a district championship, and now, they have won three in a row. With a packed crowd and many Kentucky football players there to watch, both teams were ready for this one. As the game got underway, both teams started off hot, and the game was tied as the quarter ended. To start the second quarter, the chants from fans of both teams started to pick up and the intensity of the game did as well. Both teams were scoring and it led to a three-point lead at halftime. During halftime UK Quarterback Terry Wilson made an appearance, asking, “what games are on tonight?” This made both crowds go crazy, but Terry ended up going to the Bulldog section. This fired up the Dunbar student section, but LCA played very well. The game was tied entering the fourth quarter. In the Eagles’ huddle Kyle Rode, 12, said “I got us we are, we’re not losing this game.” He was right. LCA ran away with the game and won the third straight district championship. After the win, Matthew Potter, 10, said, “We don’t need Terry anyway.” What a win this was and the Eagles are three-time champions!
