Cheerleaders Bring Home National Title

The competition cheer team wins the national championship in Orlando. Florida.

On February 10, the Varsity Cheer Team won Nationals in their division of Small Varsity II. The cheer team has been working for this title since August, and have finally achieved that goal. LCA has never won a national title for cheerleading, so this is a huge accomplishment for the team, as well as the coaches. Head Coach Brittany Bailey and Assistant Coach Molly Chaffin stated, “We are very proud of how these athletes have pushed themselves physically and mentally to the limit. They have showcased so much talent, but most importantly we have glorified God along the way.”  She added the Bible verse that motivated the girls, ‘The suffering and pain that you feel now can’t compare to the joy that is coming” Romans 8:18. The preparation for the national title was extreme. Junior Avery Benson said that in order to win nationals, “we went from having two to three practices a week, to five practices and a showcase every weekend of January. The senior captains made a hit board for every time we hit our routine perfectly, and before leaving for nationals, we had forty-four hits out of fifty-seven.” It is clearly evident that the satisfaction of this national title is beyond compare. The cheer team consists of four seniors: Bailey Fry, Elizabeth McCauley, Caroline Royalty, and Megan Rodgers, as well as four Juniors: Avery Benson, Maria Day, Maya Grasso, and Peyton Wilson. There is one sophomore on the team: Allison Whitaker, and one freshman, Jaryn Thomas. Lastly, there are four eighth graders on the team: Olivia Parker, Haleigh Roberts, Kennedy Rodgers, and Marianna Lamm.
