At Lexington Christian Academy, students are free to create most any club they aspire to have, and there certainly is a range, from a less traditional Eno Club to a more academic Spanish Club. Freshmen Jessie Carpenter and Claire Moore decided to hop on the club-making train after noticing there was no home economics class offered. They created the brand-new Cooking Club. Jessie admitted that as a freshman, it was intimidating for her, especially since most of the club is made up of sophomores and a senior. When asked what she would like to do moving forward with the club, she said, “I would like to get a little more organized. It was rocky starting up and it’s a lot of work, but we are making it through surely but slowly.” She also gave some advice to those who would like to start cubs but are too nervous, “Just go for it. Make a convincing case to Mr. Matthews by knowing all the details. Also, make it appealing to other students.” If you love to cook and be social, then this just might be the club for you. Signup sheets are in the front high school office. Meetings are every Monday from 4:00-5:30 after school.
